Getting around: The town is small and walks entirely on foot, with rented bikes or a 'chiva' (open-sided tourist bus) for the waterfall route. Direct buses from Quito (~3.5 hours).

Halal & prayer places: Nearly nonexistent — a small mountain town; rely on vegetarian and simple local meals.

Local safety: Generally safe and welcoming — among Ecuador's most tourist-friendly towns, with only ordinary caution against pickpocketing in weekend crowds. The one genuine risk is natural: Tungurahua volcano's ongoing activity means following local authority warnings and staying out of officially restricted zones near the crater.
