Beach sellers are friendly and persistent — a smiling 'hapana asante' ends it politely; and the Kisite day deserves its full day.

Getting around: Via the Likoni ferry then 45 minutes from Mombasa, or fly direct to Ukunda strip from Nairobi. Tuk-tuks run the strip.

Halal & prayer places: Good through its Swahili surroundings — halal on the main road, resorts cater; nearby Ukunda is Muslim-flavoured.
