Staying near Kapana or the Old Town entrance puts every major sight within walking distance.

Book an evening Roman Theatre visit if available — the night lighting is a completely different experience from a daytime visit. The old cobblestone streets get slippery after rain — avoid smooth-soled shoes.

Getting around: No metro — city buses (tickets ~€0.60 from the driver) cover transfers between the central station and the Old Town, but the historic core and Kapana are fully pedestrian. Plovdiv's small airport has limited seasonal European charter flights — most visitors arrive from Sofia by bus or train (~2 hours, ~€10).

Halal & prayer places: The historic Dzhumaya Mosque (14th century) in the old-town centre is ringed by a handful of declared halal kebab spots (e.g. Pasa, Antik), mostly Turkish in style. The scene is smaller and less organised than Sofia's — ask directly when unsure, and general local cuisine always needs a pork check.
